Photo Essay-A day at the zoo with the kids

For my final photo essay, I had originally planned on shooting down at the softball fields and doing a story on the ongoing improvements to the softball community and fields. As luck would have it, it rained out all this week, and I was unable to shoot anything. So, the next best thing I thought to make a story out of was a trip to the zoo with my daughter and my nephews, and of course it was pouring that day too. I really wanted to get some pictures of the trainers feeding/brushing/washing the animals, but the rain impeded that plan as well. Here are the pictures that I was able to take.
The monkey exhibit was a popular favorite among the kids, and this guy was nice enough to pose for me.

About to cross the monkey bars, Mariah gets some needed encouragement from her daddy.

Another favorite of the kids, the big, bad lioness. She had just awoken from her slumber as I snapped this pic.

Action/Sports Shoot-Track day!

For the action/sports photo shoot, I decided that i would roam on down to the LBCC track and check out the huge track meet that was going on Friday, May 20th, 2011. After doing some investigating, I found out that the schools that were competing were all private christian schools grades 1st-6th. It was semi-difficult to get some good shots as there were so many parents/kids/teachers running around everywhere, but overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Week 6-News Feature photo

Jeanie Weedman, Shop manager/Piercer. Jeanie is the head chick in charge and oversees alot of what goes on, and makes sure the shop is running well.

For this week's photojournalism assignment, I chose to snap some photos of my friends down at Downtown Tattoo and Piercing. A huge thanks goes out to the ladies down there for being so helpful and let me run amok with a camera around the shop. Another huge thanks goes out to Cassie and her family for letting me take pictures of her, even though she was extremely nervous. The shoot went very well, a little awkward at times, but overall, the pics came out good. Downtown Tattoo and Piercing is located at 224 Washington St SW Albany, OR. Mugshot/Enviroment Shot

My Co-worker and friend, Mindy Forbes. She was so worried about how this would look. Hey Mindy, you look awesome! Thank you!
For my Environment shot, I decided to go to my own stomping grounds, which is my work at Arco. I decided to snap photos of my dear friend Mindy guarding her everyday post. These are some of the photos I took.

This is where you can usually find Mindy, Monday thru Friday from 9am-5pm, guarding her post, or making cool hair bows.

The Job Fair graces LBCC with its presence.

On Thursday, April 14th, The job fair blitzed thru the LBCC gym, and many students and employers alike found it to be a very successful event.
